This video is one of the songwriters, Lara White, talking about the song and Danny, she has really nice things to say about him. I can imagine how it would feel as a songwriter to have someone as talented as Danny choose and interpret your song.

This blogger apparently does a periodic review of songs on the chart, and analyzes them to detect trends in what's popular now - it appears that the intended audience is aspiring songwriters. IWNSG appears to have really captured his attention, interesting comments:

The most emotional song on the chart is from my fellow Wisconsinite and American Idol alumnus, Danny Gokey. “I Will Not Say Goodbye” is an uplifting, moving power ballad. Given his personal story, the song has 5x the impact. BUT, will his non-traditional voice be a boon or will this be a boondoggle? Time will tell, but I’m rooting for him. It’s is a great, great song and with fall just around the corner, folks might just be in the mood for it. I can’t predict.

This writer really likes Danny, I still remember her album review for him. In this article about IWNSG she gives some backstory, quotes some of the lyrics and then says....Gokey knows the meaning of those words all too well, but he delivers a performance that is heartfelt and personal without being maudlin. This beautifully crafted song gives him the chance to share his soulful voice in an especially moving way.—Deborah Evans Price

I saw a DJ from Froggy 103.7 in Murray KY, who will see Danny when he is in town, talking about the song on twitter tonight and I love what he said. (see below). I checked the station site, it would be nice to hear his interview with Danny but I didn't see a livestream.

BigAL_G If you haven't heard the latest from @dannygokey yet. "I Will Not Say Goodbye" just might be a career record. Absolutely wonderful song.

BigAL_G G'nite peeps. Talk to you tomorrow afternoon. Remember we are givin away Big O tickets and I'll have @dannygokey on the show tomorrow!

This is a country music blogger who predicts that the song will go to #1....

Really great comment on the "Cool New Music" section of allaccess.com, which is a radio industry related site:

I have heard a few radio programmers say this about the new Danny Gokey: "I really love it– it's a great song– but it's SO sad." I am not sure if anyone has checked the lists of the greatest songs of all time, any genre, any chart--but most of them are sad– especially Country songs! Life is sad sometimes – okay, most of the time. And these are the kinds of songs that can stop you in your tracks and make you think, maybe even cry. I heard Vince Gill say once that a great Country song has the ability to break your heart. And that's still true today. People love great songs, whether they are happy or sad. I just saw Danny do this song last week, when he performed during the CRB meetings. He sang the hell out of this, just like he does on the record. So, play it. Impacting now.

This thread was originally just the review in the OP but I decided to just make it more general and add new stuff about the song as it appears.

Background about the song from the writers....
