Students from Sophia’s Heart Music & Arts Program to Open for Danny’s 4th of July Performance at Summerfest in Milwaukee
Danny has this week’s most added single at country radio, with the poignant “I Will Not Say Goodbye” topping the most-added lists for Billboard and Country Aircheck stations quick to show their support for the powerful new ballad.
It’s an exciting week all around for Gokey, who’ll celebrate the 4th of July with a return to his Milwaukee hometown for a headlining performance on the final night of Summerfest. Billed as “The World’s Largest Music Festival,” the 11-day, multi-stage festival will feature Gokey headlining the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard Stage with an opening act close to his heart.
Milwaukee central-city school students participating in the after-school Sophia’s Heart Music & Arts Program – part of Gokey’s Sophia’s Heart Foundation – will showcase their talents, with the Sophia’s Heart Children’s Community Choir featuring 7th and 8th grade students, led by Music Director Jeff Krumbein, and the Sophia’s Heart Children’s Dance Team, led by Dance Instructor Val Young.
The Sophia’s Heart Music & Arts Program works to encourage students to live their dreams and provides a safe place for children to strive toward attaining their dreams through setting goals, discipline, and practice. Danny’s “I Will Not Say Goodbye,” a song The New York Times calls “devastating,” is the newest single from Danny’s debut album, My Best Days, which also features his recent hit, “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me.”

I bought you album on a day I received devasting news. I had no idea what songs were on it. I just knew you from American Idol and thought I would buy it. Thank you for putting words to my grief! We have been on the road to adopt a girl from Nepal. We have been waiting for over a year and a half. Then without warning the State Department suspends adoptions from Nepal. It is a case of rules that were meant to protect the orphans being abused. It is not right what is happening. The grief I feel for these orphans consumes me as well. You have people that will raise awareness of the orphans and encourage people to adopt. Where is someone that will rise up over the children that are doomed to the orphanage because they don't have the proper paperwork? This is not the first country to be closed for some of the same reasons. There are thousands and thousands of orphans that it doesn't matter how many people considering adopting they can not be helped. The government(our government) is abusing laws and overlooking cultural differences and demanding that countries do things their way yet not helping them be able to do it. It feels so good to hear words that explain where my grief is. My faith in God is being shaken. I haven't listened to my Christian music since this happened. Yet I just realized that God led me to you cd without me knowing how it would affect me. He knew I wouldn't be listening to my regular music and he gave me your song. Pray for the children of Nepal! Thank you!

Danny, This song and your story hit so close to home with me. I have a son that has a congential heart defect that the doctors can't fix. And we are just holding on waiting and enjoying every moment with him. And I know how this song just hits me right in the heart. It's times like these that I wish you were like my bff cause we could sit and talk about the stories of our loved ones. Keep up the good work you are doing an amazing job and I love how this has not changed you as a person. You are an incrediable giver and person.

This is not only a beautiful song, but it has special meaning to me. I lost my beloved son, Todd, in September 2009. My heart will forever be broken; however, his spirit remains with me all the time and "I Will Not Say Good-bye" like the title of Danny's song. I was fortunate to see Danny in concert this evening, July 21st, at the DuPage County Fairgrounds. He is an awesome performer; humble and sweet too. He is so appreciative of his fans. I got to meet him in person, got autographs, and had the honor of holding his hand when I told him about my loss. Love you Danny and may God bestow blessings upon you for a bright future!

I just wanted to say that this song has helped me through a difficult few days. My family just lost 3 members of our family in one night. This song has brought me strength and hope. It shows me that even though they are gone I don’t have to say goodbye. They will always be with me. This is my new theme song.

Today my family and I watched your "I will not say goodbye" video for the first time. My entire family currently serves in the law enforcement family and we can not thank you enough for such memorial video for those who serve and ultimately give their lives to their communities. Being in law enforcement for over 13 years, it is certainly appreciated to see that our service to our communities we live and work in is appreciated. Thank you so much and GOD bless!

I pre-ordered this album on iTunes and had it the day it was released. I absolutely LOVE every song! "I Will Not Say Goodbye" was instantly my favorite the first time I heard it. I was so glad when I heard it was the second song from the album to be released. The video is great! I'm hoping Danny release "Life on Ya" next. All of the songs are inspirational and thought provoking. I can't wait for the next album. Congratulations Danny on an awesome first album!

I just can't wait to purchase this album! I have been waiting and waiting and now the album is out! I am going to one of LIGHTS shows so I hope she plays all my favorite songs... Congrats on this new song and video. I have to say it really hits home for me. I just lost my husband Dec 29, 2009 after a 4 1/2 year battle to cancer and these words really describe perfectly how I feel. I will never say goodbye to him. He was truly my soulmate and I miss him everyday more than the day before. We were never apart since the day we met. I have found all of your songs very inspiring. You are amazing. This song "I will not say Goodbye" Just heard it yesterday on CMT...LOVE it tears flow . We lost our son Wes in 1992 to cancer , he was only 10 yrs old. Not a day goes bye that his name or a story about him gets mentioned. That is my way of Never saying goodbye. Being mad at God at first, not understanding why.
I will go buy this as soon as I can. I know Danny sings this from the heart , I have always liked his singing and style. Keep up the great work and stay real Danny.

I am not sure if the management of Danny Gokey reads this or not, but I was awestruck this morning. I just saw the new video for I will not say goodbye. I could not believe how your video moved me. You proudly used the officers of the Metro Nashville Police Department and showed how they honor their fallen. I am a proud family member of a fallen officer. My sister in law, Candace R. Ripp, was the first female officer to be killed in the line of duty for the Metro Nashville Police Department. Thank you for honoring not only her but ever officer that has fallen and their family. Thank you for bringing to light what they do everyday and the sacrifice that they make. We are proud supporters of Concerns of Police Survivors and we appreciat your honor to our loved ones in this video.

Congrats to to Danny and Team for having the most adds to radio. I have heard nothing but positive comments about the song and the video. I hope it will be a big hit for Danny. I have to admit that I Will Not Say Goodbye is my favorite song on his album (although all the songs are great). Hope everyone who will be fortunate enough to see Danny in concert at Summerfest in Milwaukee has a great time.
